Awareness session given to secondary classes at College Notre Dame de Nazareth – Beirut
HERA coordinated an informative session for secondary classes at College Notre Dame de Nazareth in Beirut, aimed at raising awareness about sexual education and the significance of being prepared for the changes that come with it. The session commenced with an introduction and interactive activities, fostering a comfortable environment for the students to share their perspectives on the topic. Subsequently, a biologist conducted a session on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), enlightening the students about the importance of taking precautions and maintaining a healthy sexual life. They emphasized the significance of safe practices to protect oneself and others. Furthermore, an OBGYN expert led a session on contraception, pregnancy, and abortion. The physician elaborated on various contraceptive methods, their effects on health, the process of pregnancy, and the different types of abortion, as well as the laws pertaining to these matters in Lebanon. Given the context of sexuality, a trained psychologist specializing in child protection addressed the issue of sexual harassment. This session covered topics such as asserting one's right to say no, methods to stop harassment, and how to respond if exposed to or aware of someone facing such circumstances. The sessions were thoughtfully designed to provide comprehensive information on sexual education while promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for the students.
