Hygiene and Puberty

Awareness session given to primary classes at College Notre Dame de Nazareth- Beirut
On the 16th of February 2023, HERA organized an awareness session for primary class students at Notre Dame de Nazareth School in Beirut. The focus of the session was to raise awareness about hygiene and the transition to puberty. The session started with an engaging discussion on personal hygiene and how to maintain it. A public health expert provided valuable insights on the significance of hygiene for each part of our body, along with easy-to-follow tips for the students. Afterward, an experienced midwife took over to address the topic of puberty. The healthcare professional elaborated on the various changes that occur during puberty at each stage, both physically and emotionally. This information helped the students understand and prepare for the natural changes that come with growing up. For young girls specifically, a dedicated session titled "A Guide for Menstrual Cycle" was conducted by the midwife. In this session, detailed information about the menstrual cycle and proper usage of menstrual hygiene kits was provided, ensuring that the girls were well-informed and prepared for this normal aspect of their development. The sessions were thoughtfully tailored to suit the age of the students, making them interactive and engaging. Information was conveyed through explanatory videos, enhancing the learning experience and making it more accessible to the young audience. Overall, the awareness session successfully empowered the students with valuable knowledge to take care of themselves and navigate through the changes that come with puberty.
